Inge Brekelmans (they/them)

I am Inge a self taught textile artist and designer who likes to use many artisan needlework and sewing techniques to express myself.

I like to use different techniques like sewing, quilting, patchwork, weaving, felting, Smyrna, hand spool knitting, crochet, embroidery, application, tapestry, dying, painting, and ink marbling. I tend to flow through different techniques that catch my eye or have me fascinated for a while. I love to alternate techniques and teach myself more stitches, patterns, or ways to utilize materials. This large base of needlework and textile techniques helped me in my intuitive approach to making art, especially because I  am drawn to combining all sorts of different techniques together in one piece. I love how versatile each technique and material is and how it can come together in a beautiful variety of colors and textures.

Sometimes my artpieces tell a personal story of what it’s like being a polygender person in today’s society and other times it’s about playful colors and textures that make me feel good and wholesome.

Making art for the love of art.
